Interview with German public radio on the German coalition agreement from a European perspective.
Berlin will der EU finanziell entgegen kommen. So steht es im Koalitionsvertrag von Union und SPD. Mit dem Außen- und dem Finanzministerium hat die SPD jetzt Schlüsselpositionen für ein größeres Engagement der Bundesregierung in Europa inne. Der Politologe Janis Emmanouilidis vom European Policy Center in Brüssel blickte im Inforadio optimistisch auf die Perspektive, die eine "GroKo" für Europa bietet.
Es sei gerade für die Europapolitik sehr wichtig, wieder eine funktionsfähige Regierung in Deutschland zu haben, sagte Emmanoulidis. "In den Monaten mussten gewisse Entscheidungen immer wieder aufgeschoben werden, weil man aus Berlin keine eindeutige Entscheidung haben konnte. Von daher ist das erstmal das wichtigste Signal."
Europa sei im Koalitionsvertrag ein starkes Thema, so der Politologe weiter. "Inhaltlich weist es in die richtige Richtung. Viele Punkte wurden allerdings nicht geklärt. Was aber am Ende des Tages nicht negativ ist. Denn man braucht, um auf europäischer Ebene voranzukommen, eine Verständigung mit Paris. Und da braucht man eine gewisse Flexibilität. Die gibt der Koalitionsvertrag."
