EPC Update – Shifting landscapes: The new Commission, electoral tides, and the Draghi report
YouTube, 19.09.2024
Online Briefing
This first online EPC Update after the summer break covered three major issues. It started with an analysis of how the proposed structure and composition of the new Commission reflect the political priorities defined by President-elect Ursula von der Leyen and considered the way ahead, including the prospects for Commissioners’ upcoming hearings in the European Parliament. In addition, we examined the implications of the regional elections in Germany for European policymaking in Berlin and Brussels, and the impact of political developments in France. Finally, we discussed the reactions and expectations linked to the Draghi report on competitiveness and its potential impact on the EU’s political agenda.
Speakers: Janis A. Emmanouilidis, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Studies, European Policy Centre; Fabian Zuleeg, Chief Executive & Chief Economist, European Policy Centre
Moderator: Jacki Davis, Senior Adviser, European Policy Centre
