This online EPC Update and Post-Summit Briefing assessed the discussions and outcomes of the European Council meeting on 27/28 June 2023, focusing on Ukraine, Europe's economy and competitiveness, migration, security and defence, and EU-China relations.
Will EU leaders agree on concrete measures on industrial policy, the Single Market and Europe's long-term competitiveness and productivity, including the Commission's proposals on economic security and the EU budget review? Following the Council's recent agreement on key elements of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, will negotiations with the European Parliament and Commission deliver a final deal by Spring 2024? What impact will the reforms have on the ground? Will EU leaders provide further guidance on strengthening the Union's defence and security capacity?
