EPC Update – War in Ukraine, economic slowdown, and energy crisis: Permacrisis or lack of ambition?
YouTube, 21.11.2022
Online Briefing
This EPC Update covered four main topics. First, we discussed the war in Ukraine, whether unity among the EU27 is still holding, and how the outcome of the US mid-term elections might affect the overall situation. Second, we dealt with the Union's longer-term response to the economic crisis and consider the investments that are needed to counter the upcoming recession. Third, we analysed the (lack of) progress in managing the energy crisis and the consequences of a potential deadlock at the European level. Last but not least, we looked at the outcomes of COP27, which took place in Sharm el-Sheikh between 6 and 18 November 2022.
Speakers: Amanda Paul, Senior Policy Analyyst, European Policy Centre; Fabian Zuleeg, Chief Executive, European Policy Centre; Janis Emmanouilidis, Director of Studies, European Policy Centre
Moderator: Jacki Davis, Senior Adviser, European Policy Centre
