Dans ce contexte, le Brexit apparaîtrait comme un nouveau coup dur. Car même si "aucun changement abrupt" n'est attendu en matière de politique étrangère européenne après le référendum britannique du 23 juin, la "perte en termes d'image" serait bien réelle, note Janis Emmanouilidis, directeur du European Policy Center (EPC) à Bruxelles.
Ce départ montrerait que "les Européens sont absorbés par leurs nombreux problèmes comme la crise migratoire ou financière, qu'ils se regardent le nombril. Cela ne donne pas une image de force, mais de faiblesse" qui pourrait être exploitée par la Russie de Vladimir Poutine ou les dirigeants chinois, avides d'étendre leur influence, affirme M.
