Britain leaving the European Unionwould strip the bloc of a nuclear-armed global player andprove "disastrous" for its presence on the world stage,analysts say.

The timing could hardly be worse, as the EU struggles withits biggest migration crisis since World War II and thecontinent facing a growing threat from terrorism fuelled byconflict in the Middle East. [...]

It would increase the loss of image if the EU shrinks for thefirst time in its history," Janis Emmanouilidis, director ofstudies at European Policy Centre, told AFP.
