Der Countdown zur Ernennung des neuen EU-Kommissionspräsidenten läuft.
Beim EU-Gipfel in einer Woche wird feststehen, ob Jean-Claude Juncker,
siegreicher Spitzenkandidat der Europawahlen, für dieses Amt nominiert
wird. Vor allem der britische Premierminister will das noch verhindern -
auch mit Blick auf das EU-Parlament. Die Abgeordneten haben sich massiv
für das bisher einzigartige Projekt "Europäischer Spitzenkandidat"
stark gemacht.
Wird David Cameron im Europäischen Rat überstimmt und Juncker ernannt, würden die Europaparlamentarier im Europäischen Machtgefüge erheblich an Stärke gewinnen. Doch auch innerhalb des EU-Parlaments geht es derzeit um Kräfteverhältnisse. Es bilden sich neue Fraktionen, wobei sich vor allem europakritische und rechtsnationale Parteien um Gruppenstärke bemühen. Cornelia Primosch hat mit EU-Parlamentariern und Experten gesprochen.
