Abseits so mancher Vorgeplänkel rund um die eine oder andere Kandidatur gilt die EU-Wahl Ende Mai als erster wirklicher Stimmungstest nach der schlimmsten Phase der Euro-Krise. Und sie wird Antworten auf zwei diesbezügliche Fragen geben: nämlich jene nach dem Grad der Begeisterung für die EU und jene nach dem Potenzial für rechte und linke Parteien. [...]

Entsprechend schätzen Experten die momentane Stimmung ein: „Die andauernde Euro-Krise und ihre Auswirkungen können eine Welle negativer Kampagnen in den Europawahlen 2014 gegen die europäische Integration freisetzen und mehr Protestwähler zur Abstimmung bringen, vor allem wenn die EU-Befürworter es nicht schaffen, ihre Argumente energisch und überzeugend der Wählerschaft zu vermitteln“, meinen Corina Stratulat und Janis Emmanouilidis vom Brüsseler Thinktank European Policy Centre (EPC).
