Das Bundesverfassungsgericht in Karlsruhe befasst sich heute und morgen mal wieder mit dem Euro. Denn nicht alle Beteiligten sind mit den vermeintlichen Rettungsmaßnahmen der Europäischen Zentralbank glücklich. Gerade in den letzten Jahren braucht der Euro immer wieder neue „Stabilitätsmechanismen“ und Krisen-Gipfeltreffen. Das hat offenbar viele Beitrittskandidaten abgeschreckt.
2014 wird Lettland aller Voraussicht nach 18. Euro-Land. Die Regierung in Riga ist begeistert, aber die Letten selbst weniger. Und auch in Polen, Tschechien oder Ungarn ist die Euro-Skepsis hoch. Wie attraktiv ist der Euro noch? Und wie wichtig ist er für Europa? Darüber sprechen wir mit Janis Emmanouilidis vom European Policy Center in Brüssel.
