"Die größte Reform des Stabilitätspaktes seit der Einführung des Euro ist in trockenen Tüchern.
Einmal mehr ist unser großes Thema die Finanzkrise: Defizitsünder sollen nach dem Willen des Europaparlaments künftig schneller bestraft werden, die EU-Kommission denkt über eine Finanz-Transaktionssteuer nach, der deutsche Bundestag spannt den Euro-Rettungsschirm ganz weit aus.
Das Europaparlament billigte eine Verschärfung des Euro-Stabilitätspaktes. Die Zustimmung der EU-Finanzminister gilt als reine Formsache. Schon der alte Stabilitätspakt sieht Geldstrafen vor, die in der Praxis aber nie verhängt wurden. Das soll jetzt einfacher werden. Auch werden die die EU-Institutionen die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung eines Landes strenger als bisher überwachen. Welches aber sind die politischen Folgen der Krise? Darüber sprachen wir mit unserem Gast, dem Politologen Janis Emmanoulidis."
