Janis Emmanouilidis, analista principal del European Policy Center, con sede en Bruselas, cree que la CE ha demostrado recientemente una "tendencia a ser más crítica también con los grandes Estados".Teniendo en cuenta esto, los reproches de la CE a Francia adquieren un significado particular. "Es un mensaje de la Comisión", dijo Emmanouilidis a BBC Mundo, "Se trata de enviar señales de que los intereses europeos se defienden más allá del tamaño de los Estados".
