The Irish ‘Yes’ to the Lisbon Treaty is good news for Europe, but doubts remain about its entry into force pending completion of the ratification process in Poland and the Czech Republic. This Commentary by Janis Emmanouilidis and Antonio Missiroli argues that this unique situation requires a combination of resolve and flexibility from all sides, and suggests a four-stage approach to dealing with the uncertainties surrounding the appointment of a new European Commission, and the holders of the new jobs created by the Treaty.
