Presentation of the Post-Summit Analysis at the EPC Post-Summit Briefing, at which speakers analysed the outcome of the June 2011 EU Summit.

The panel discussion included Jean-Jacques Mével, Brussels correspondent of Le Figaro, Yves Pascouau and Janis Emmanouilidis, both Senior Policy Analysts at EPC. The debate was moderated by Hans Martens, EPC Chief Executive.

The briefing was introduced by Janis Emmanouilidis, who presented the key arguments of his Post-Summit Analysis entitled All eyes on Greece – the EU in crisis mode, again!

The Analysis warns that there is no ‘silver bullet’ to resolve the crisis, and that EU leaders will have to choose between “politically very painful and economically very costly” alternatives. But it calls for a bolder approach and for greater honesty from EU leaders about what needs to be done, and why. It also assesses the outcome of the discussions on the first European semester and the economic governance package, as well as migration and the free movement of people.
