On 27 November 2007 the Centre for European Studies (CEPS) organized a meeting of the European Policy Institutes Network (EPIN). In this framework a group of more than 30 EU experts discussed the perspectives of a (further) politicisation of the EU. The discussions concerntrated on the role of European Parties and on the potential forms of politicisation.

Most participants agreed that European politicisation cannot simply follow any national model and that the left-right divide is by no means sufficient to explain or to model the future of politicisation. The EU will rather follow a sui generis way of politicisation on both the national and the European level.
